Internationally renowned for his unique combination of world music, healing arts, and arts education, Poranguí offers concerts that transcend cultural boundaries to deeply heal and integrate the mind, body and soul. He masterfully weaves ancestral songs & indigenous rhythms from around the world as a one-man orchestra. Creating his performances from scratch using looping technology, Poranguí’s live grooves range from meditative to dance party, moving everyone he reaches, from large crowds to intimate ceremonies. He has performed for a worldwide audience including highlights such as; the BBC’s Jazz Cafe in London, the PBS Singer-Songwriter Series, SXSW Yoga Soundscapes Series, Agape Spiritual Center, and most recently created the opening ceremony for Lightening in a Bottle festival in CA.
From July 28th-August 28th, 2016 Porangui will be on a West Coast U.S. CD release tour with peak performances in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland. Collaborations with Shaman’s Dream, prodigious vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Elijah Ray, and yoga ambassador Kishan Shah are on the itinerary.
Debut Solo Album: “Ayahuasca”
Poranguí recently worked with director Mitch Schultz (“DMT: The Spirit Molecule”) and executive producer, Aubrey Marcus on “Ayahuasca”, a documentary set in the Amazon. The soundtrack to this film, released in 2016, is Poranguí’s debut solo album. The sonic alchemy captured blends field recordings from the Amazon rainforest with native instruments from around the world. A portion of proceeds from this album will be donated to community projects supporting tribes near the Rio Momón who inspired this music, including the Muruy and Quichua Alamas.
